Let’s jump into this HGETV review on the movie F1. Brad Pitt plays an older, still passionate, race car driver who comes out of retirement to help an old friend with a struggling team and unpopular brand. But joining this team forces Brad Pitt to work with a younger, very determined, driver (Damson Idris). And almost immediately, they start bumping heads with each other.
The Movie “F1” is a cliche story of teamwork, testosterone, and redemption. This film has exciting sequences on race tracks with numerous races in exciting assortments of rhythm, race-engines sounds, speed, and adrenaline. The editing in these race sequences are seriously tight, and entertaining.
“F1” has some highly-regarded, actors like Javier Bardem (“Dune: Part Two,” 2024), Kerry Condon (“The Banshees of Inisherin,” 2022), and Tobias Menzies (“The Crown,” 2019-2020), but it’s clearly all about the zoom zoom and bang bang. If you love cars, this film is a fulfilling climax to say the least.
Realizing it’s a repeat of the huge financial success of “Top Gun: Maverik” (2022) with many of the same plot points, placeholder characters, and conflicts between young and old generations.
It’s no suprise that the Warner Bros., Apple Original Films, and Jerry Bruckheimer Films studios are trying to repeat history. Joseph Kosinski, who directed “Top Gun: Maverik,” also directed F1. And Ehren Kruger, who was part of the writing team on “Top Gun: Maverik,” also wrote the screenplay for “F1.” So even the same people behind the scenes were hired to generate a similar hit trading in the wings of a fighter jet for the curvy body of a racecar.
Now for those who don’t know the F1 Movie was inspired by the F1 GAME. A collaboration which included items like the APXGP driver suit, Sonny Hayes’s helmet, and other exclusive content, primarily for players who pre-ordered the “Iconic Edition” of the game or purchased the DLC.
